Child Support and Custody Modification Attorney
If you need help modifying a divorce or family law order in Southcentral Alaska, I can help. I am Dorothea G. Aguero, an Alaska family law attorney with more than 20 years of legal experience. I represent clients who are seeking modifications of family law orders, including:
- Child support modifications
- Child custody modifications
- Visitation modifications
- Spousal support modifications
- Parental relocation
To speak with me about a modification, contact my law office in Anchorage, Alaska.
Child Support Modifications
Courts may modify existing child support orders if the party seeking a modification demonstrates a significant change of circumstances, including a significant change in the income of either parent, increased needs of a minor child or other significant changes.
If you feel you are paying too much support or not receiving enough support, I can perform a child support calculation on your behalf using the Alaska child support guidelines to determine if your support order is appropriate. I can also review your case to determine if there may be unique factors that would warrant a deviation from guideline support.
Child Custody and Visitation Modifications
A number of factors may warrant a custody or visitation modification. If a parental relocation, allegation of child abuse, concerns over chemical dependency, disputes over visitation time or other factors are impacting the best interests of a child, contact me to determine how to best protect your child and your parental rights.
I believe that many disputes involving parents can be resolved cooperatively. Even in heated custody and visitation disputes, I am often able to help my clients resolve disputes without protracted litigation. I have the ability to enlist the assistance of qualified professionals who may help guide parents toward successful resolutions of disputed matters in a way that benefits children and parents.
Spousal Support Modification
If your financial circumstances or the financial circumstances of your former spouse have changed significantly and you need to speak with a lawyer about a spousal support modification, I can help.
Parental Relocation
If you are a custodial parent who wishes to relocate, you should consult with an experienced family law attorney prior to moving. A failure to take necessary steps to notify the noncustodial parent could violate the terms of your existing divorce order. If you are a noncustodial parent who wishes to oppose a relocation by a custodial parent, you should retain an experienced family law attorney who can protect your rights.
There are multiple factors that courts will consider when determining whether to grant or oppose a request for relocation. Using my knowledge of Alaska family laws and courts in Southcentral Alaska, I am prepared to provide the sound advice and vigorous representation you require.
