The Impact Of Domestic Violence In Child Custody Proceedings
Alaska law generally favors the right of both parents to maintain a strong relationship with their children after a divorce. A finding of domestic violence, however, can change everything. The Alaska family code creates a rebuttable presumption that any parent who is guilty of committing an act of domestic violence against another parent or a child may not be awarded sole custody, joint physical custody or joint legal custody. [Alaska Statute 25.24.150(g)]
If you are a victim or have been accused, you need an experienced attorney who can provide the sound advice and vigorous representation you require. I encourage you to contact me to learn more about your legal rights and options.
